Free speech analysis software. There are several software packages for the analysis of speech signals available free of charge via the internet. Which one you want to use will depend on your particular needs.
The following is simply the opinions of one user, and is not in any way meant to be read as an official evaluation. We are indebted to the creators of this software for all the work they have put into the development of the software without financial reward. Probably the simplest and easiest to use. It's ideal for introducing students to acoustic analysis on computer, and it takes up very little disk space.
Quite easy to use, and capable of delivering more functions than WASP. The display format is more flexible, and it's easy to change between monochrome and colour spectrograms, and to set the frequency range displayed.
The pitch-tracker works well, and can be set to be restrained within a particular frequency range. There is a quite a lot of other phonetic software that can be downloaded and used in conjunction with this. Students like it, in my experience.
The only drawbacks are that positioning the cursors is awkward, requiring some practice, and the package is not as flexible as some others in allowing you to design your own functions. This is the "big brother" of WASP. It is extremely powerful, well documented and very regularly updated and improved. As well as analysis, it will also let you do speech synthesis and experiments with speech recognition. Beginners tend to find it intimidating, however, and on the whole it is not recommended for people with limited computing skills.
For the suitably skilled, it can be used more or less as a programming language, and many programs can be "pipelined" together so that a particular research application can be "tailor-made". There is a users' email support group that gives helpful advice. For some people, Praat is more of a way of life than a software package. It is very widely used by top-level researchers, has most of the good features of SFS see above and in addition will teach you all about Optimality Theory! Praat enthusiasts contribute extra programs or functions, so it keeps growing.
Email support for users in difficulty is good. As with SFS, though, learning it is a difficult challenge for those with little computing expertise. Not really free software in the sense of the above, but you can download a free trial copy of CoolEdit with some of its functions disabled, and if you later want to buy it you can do so over the internet.Account Options Sign in.

Harmony Helper. It has been viewedtimes and 25 replies have been made. I found this online You can keep using it to see if you improve. LOL I can't seem to improve on my own. I keep getting very low scores in vocal expression 2's and 3's5 out of 10 for tuning same as pitch I think.
I get the best scores on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" bahaha. I never got above 5 in anything. See how you do! I got an 8 on expression and a 7. Only thing I didn't care for, is that it wants the camera mic. I don't like my camera mic LOL. Cheekylilvixen I was able to use my regular mic Don't know if that would work same with internal soundcard but I would think it would.
Wow those are awesome scores Cheeky! I keep getting a pass on tuning but flunky dunk on vocal expression I sang "Oh Canada" and got 6. Best scores yet!!! I did try to program.
It recorded fine, and I could hear the playback, but it couldn't analyze my scores. My microphone is connected to my external soundcard, not my webcam. My webcam is really cheap- I can't record directly thru it.
Any suggestions? Enjoy the song. Thanks for your input! Hmmm well that was interesting Am thinking it all depends on the song you sing! I tried this when I saw this message and i made a 7. Got: an 8. Didn't want to use the web cam, so I tilted it up to the ceiling!
Think I understand what the first two scores mean, but what's global? I did not use cam and used my headphones mic as alwaysGitHub is home to over 40 million developers working together to host and review code, manage projects, and build software together.

Very useful to track change since you can save recordings. I've been using the Voice Analyst with my transgender clients. It is incredibly user friendly and provides great visual readings of frequency as well as an instant analysis of pitch range and mean. My clients can use it in session and some have downloaded it to work with at home.
Really recommend it! Looking forward to next version with fileshare options. This is a very useful app and I recommend it for all my voice clients. The development team has been responsive to requests and they keep making the app better! Best blend of features and simplicity. Also, I sent in a feature request and the devs added it within 2 weeks. Would buy this again. This is hands down the best voice analyzer I was able to find in the app store.
Sure, like every app it has a few glitches, but they are minor and the developer is very reaponsive and addresses any concerns. I use this app every day and so far I'm very satisfied. Thank you. This app does a great job of analyzing your voice.

I'm trying to inch my natural speaking pitch down past the androgynous range where it's always been. This is the best app I've found so far. No bells and whistles, just a straight pitch analyzer.
It could do with a few more features, maybe options to keep track of previous measurements and some analytics as to how your voice has changed over time. Overall though it's just what I want.

Does exactly one thing, and does it well. I find it stable, easy, and consistent. If you want to work on your voice, you might want more features, but then you should be paying for a different app.
I like the Droid based phone version better. This version is pretty lousy and basic nock off. There are no charts nor a way to keep a history of your pitch as in the Droid Version. I think that a couple of better apps would be Voice Analyst my number one choice and Voice Tools not that great but better than this one.
I hope that the developer puts more effort into this app and keeps adding features. Inhave the Droid version in one of my phones, I would love to have it in my iPhone and iPad. I have been asking the developer of the Apple version for years. But not this lousy stripped down version. Too bad! Requires iOS Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. App Store Preview.

Apr 10, Version 2. Ratings and Reviews See All. Information Seller Carola Nitz. Size Category Lifestyle. Compatibility Requires iOS Singscope is a mobile app that shows the pitch of your singing. It analyzes your singing voice, estimates its pitch values, and draws the pitches in a graph as a function of time.
From the graph, you can check if your singing is stable and on pitch, and can also observe some vibrato characteristics of your singings. At the end when the graph rendering is completed, you will still get the full pitch graph displayed. See Device Compatibility section later for details.
While you sing, watch your pitch graph being drawn in progress. Singscope is sensitive to ambient noise, so it performs better when you sing in a quiet place.
Don't play instruments or music loudly in the backgound while you sing to Singscope. If you'd like to play music for your singing, use earphones or headphones. When you are done with your singing, tap on the Microphone button again to stop recording or simply keep quiet for a few seconds and wait for the recorder to stop by itself. Then, you can review the pitch graph by pan-and-zoom using typical touch gestures such as drag and pinch.
To hear the voice you recorded, tap on the Play button. To clear the pitch graph and start a new one, tap on the New button. Singscope also provide functions to review and save your recorded voices. For details, please see Singscope User Guide. Singscope User Guide. The pitch of your singing is drawn in the music scale as function of time. We call this drawing a pitch graph. In the graph, each vertical grid line indicates a time mark in the unit of seconds.
Each horizontal grid line indicates an exact semitone pitch frequency and is labeled by music name and octave number. For example, C4 means note C at 4th octave, which is corresponding to the middle C in piano keyboard. Here are two sample pitch graphs of singing voices. You can see the moving of your pitch as you sing.
You can also observe the vibrato of your singing in the graph. This feature pack contains a set of sheet music for vocal warm-up exercises. It also supports importing of a subset of MusicXML lead sheet files, so you can import your own lead sheets for singing exercises.
It adds the following functions to the app:. For details about this feature pack, please check out its User Guide :. Music Functions User Guide. For the information about the type of MusicXML Lead Sheets files that are supported and how to use it, please refer to the following link:.
Use Your Lead Sheets. This app relies on CPU power for pitch estimation and graph rendering. Although the drawing of pitch graph might be delayed, at the end when the graph rendering is completed, you still get the full pitch graph displayed.
If you'd like smoother real-time graph display on slower devices, you can lower the setting of Sample Rate which reduces the voice recording qualityor Spectral Measure Rate which reduces the pitch graph resolution. These adjustments can reduce the computation complexity and therefore get smoother pitch graph drawing.
To get to the settings page, tap on the Menu button and then choose the Settings item. Singscope utilizes spectral analysis and pitch detection algorithm to estimate pitch from audio signals. The method has its limitations. The first limitation is the range of pitches.
